Radio shows frequently feature people denouncing religion, annulments are on the rise as couples discover their ancestors were born in the same hospitals, untold millions of Mais are going into a new government-funded maternity leave scheme, and graffiti artists spend lengthy periods of time in jail. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Yamela's national animal is the Dog, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Cratianism, and its currency is the Mai.

Yamela is ranked 6th in Grand Central and 7,535th in the world for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 80 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
