The Enlightened Free Empire of Wolfish is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by Leader with a fair hand, and renowned for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 19.176 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal individuals is effectively ruled by the Department of Defence, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling industry, followed by Book Publishing and Information Technology.

Billions of Doogoods are being blown on orbital weapons development, Pinkerton agents are called in to forcibly break up white collar strikes, trade is bringing a wide selection of strange resources and technologies into Wolfish although importers have the highest mortality rate in the nation (Wolfish has found 1 easter eggs), and fewer people are bathing as citizens must show ration stamps before they can turn on their faucets. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Wolfish's national animal is the Wolf, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Doogood.
