The Prosperous Plutocracy of Wickermerix is a colossal, socially progressive nation, ruled by Doctor Collossus with an iron fist, and remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 9.14 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals is effectively ruled by the Department of Commerce, with areas such as Social Equality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Wickermerix City. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing and Information Technology.

Scenic tours are unheard of after most environmental laws were abolished, eight year-olds can be seen lighting up in public areas, private business has started paving paradises and putting up parking lots, and suppression of pro-democracy protests is a daily occurrence. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Wickermerix's national animal is the Esquilax, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Wix.
