The JC Denton's United States of What a shame is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by JC Denton with an iron fist, and remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.333 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.
There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New York City. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Information Technology industries.
Citizens who leave the country are officially classed as traitors, a typical fast food menu item could serve a small army, politicians are often seen with soldiers pointing guns at their heads, and torture is commonly used to extract information from suspected criminals. Crime is a major problem. What a shame's national animal is the Paul Denton, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Freemasonry, and its currency is the Shame.
What a shame is ranked 1st in Rock Island and 5,036th in the world for Most Extreme, scoring 36 on the Paul-Nader Subjective Decentrality Index.
