The Underground Economy of Westmontshire is a massive, cultured nation, remarkable for its strong anti-business politics. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 3.954 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal individuals juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Equality, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 1%, but much higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The nation has an international reputation for compassion, tourists from around the world come to visit the country's famous rainforests, the tenet of free speech is held dear, and people are moving into treehouses in record numbers. Crime is relatively low. Westmontshire's national animal is the mycorrhizal fungi, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the radical root vegetable.

Westmontshire is ranked 110th in Forest and 43,445th in the world for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 20 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
