The Archipelago Nation of Westbrobourg is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Monkey D Luffy with an even hand, and renowned for its hatred of cheese. Its hard-nosed population of 1.699 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Marie Jois. The average income tax rate is 72%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The new hit series "Westbrobourg's Got Trauma" has corporate executives fleeing the country, aeroplanes have been converted into housing units after all air travel was outlawed, politicians accepting drinks in bars are executed for taking bribes, and Westbrobourg has one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Westbrobourg's national animal is the Kraken, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Luffyism, and its currency is the Sand Dollar.

Westbrobourg is ranked 10th in The Misty Realm and 66,320th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -14 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
