The Republic of Wang Chungia is a huge, safe nation, remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 895 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Chicago. The average income tax rate is 53%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Arms Manufacturing.

Badminton was recently banned due to 'unacceptable violence' inherent to the game, the national Police Academies have dedicated infant wings, strict term limits have been applied to all elected offices, and the government is avowedly atheist. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Wang Chungia's national animal is the dung beetle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the credit.
