The Republic of Vurran is a massive, safe nation, renowned for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.434 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Law & Order, although Education and Defence are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Central City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 90%. A substantial private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

All major public areas are watched by police surveillance cameras, the government seizes private property for the 'good of the people', Vurran's famous countrysides are shrouded by wind farms, and phone taps are frequently carried out by the police. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Vurran's national animal is the Larva, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is The Church of Monotheism, and its currency is the Dollar.

Vurran is ranked 42nd in The NationStates Community and 82,602nd in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -18 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
