The Free Land of Vivendum is a massive, devout nation, ruled by President Matthew Prosser with an even hand, and renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 1.991 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Social Welfare, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Capitalis. The average income tax rate is 49%, but much higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is led by the Beef-Based Agriculture industry, followed by Book Publishing and Basket Weaving.

Schoolchildren have twice-weekly sex education classes, only fully-fledged members of MENSA are allowed to vote, criminals are thrown to the wolfounds to repay their debt to society, and Vivendum has one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown. Vivendum's national animal is the wolfound, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Christianity, and its currency is the credit.

Vivendum is ranked 3rd in Peace and 35,004th in the world for Largest Mining Sector, scoring 2 on the Blue Sky Asbestos Index.
