The Federal Union of Veritcas is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Alcatraz with an even hand, and renowned for its national health service. Its hard-nosed population of 3.221 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Rodrom. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Citizens must pay to enjoy Veritcas's pristine beaches, international tensions are high as Veritcas threatens any government with the audacity to arrest its citizens, strange looking men with big red noses are found hiding behind bushes and inside dustbins, and citizens are regularly arrested in queues for 'loitering'. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Veritcas's national animal is the Pony, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Nardekeize, and its currency is the Apple.
