The People's Socialist Republic of Veltmeria is a colossal, safe nation, remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 9.116 billion are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, moralistic individuals is effectively ruled by the Department of Defence, with areas such as Social Equality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Loans are available for students from poor families, the government is almost completely paralyzed by the recent abolishment of the tax code, the country has been 'going shopping' by annexing nearby nations for their resources, and suppression of pro-democracy protests is a daily occurrence. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, despite the fact that it is difficult to make it through a day without breaking one of the country's many laws. Veltmeria's national animal is the Insane Green Cat, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Kupek.
