The Realm of Vancata is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Philip with an even hand, and notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 2.818 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government concentrates mainly on Education, although Law & Order and Commerce are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 13%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

Graffiti artists spend lengthy periods of time in jail, hundreds of thousands of convicts work as slaves in Vancata's many privately-owned prisons, the government funds large training centres to turn Sapphire Phoenixs into functioning members of society, and public footpaths are being slowly eroded by the burgeoning number of ramblers. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Vancata's national animal is the Sapphire Phoenix, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Pinto.

Vancata is ranked 66th in Europeia and 4,384th in the world for Most Pacifist, scoring 337 on the Lennon-Springsteen Scale.
