The Kingdom of Valecia is a massive, safe nation, ruled by King James II with an even hand, and renowned for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.062 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Social Welfare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Falcia. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 79%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Soda Sales industries.

Military spending is on the increase, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, the nation has an international reputation for compassion, and most citizens in Valecia are abject pyrophobes after extremely graphic pamphlets were mailed nationwide by the government. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Valecia's national animal is the Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Vala.
