The Merchant Men of United States of Britania is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by The Father with an iron fist, and notable for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 1.279 billion are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The large, corrupt, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Pendragon. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 23%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Arms Manufacturing, and Gambling industries.

A study has shown that many parents are too embarrassed to teach their children sex education, new religious sects are squashed immediately by the government, pristine wilderness has been trashed in the quest for cheaper oil, and university graduates and new home-owners toil in labour camps to work off their debts. Crime is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. United States of Britania's national animal is the Narwhal, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Christian, and its currency is the comic strip.

United States of Britania is ranked 2nd in The Holy Alliance of Theocratic Nations and 5,118th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 14 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
