The 5-Year Mission of United StarShip Enterprise is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Captain James T Kirk with a fair hand, and notable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 2.092 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Bridge. The average income tax rate is 56%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Automobile Manufacturing.

The government's new 'Crime Can Fight Itself' policy appears to be backfiring rather badly, the government's official stance on religion is that it is so very silly, scientists recently cloned the long-extinct feather-bellied Tribble, and Captain James T Kirk has just been declared ruler of United StarShip Enterprise in an international press conference. Crime is totally unknown. United StarShip Enterprise's national animal is the Tribble, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Credit.
