The Democratic Federation of Unified Provinces is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by President Maxwell Davies with an even hand, and notable for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 3.142 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, the Environment, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Rynem. The average income tax rate is 51%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism, Book Publishing, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

Radio shows frequently feature people denouncing religion, Unified Provinces has been greatly criticised for its isolationist policies, the Unified Provinces Enquirer offers weekly cash prizes for 'most blasphemous song, story, or cartoon', and the Supreme Court vehemently protects civil rights and the right to privacy. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Unified Provinces's national animal is the Hedgehog, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Unified Provinces Dollar.

Unified Provinces is ranked 353rd in Europe and 110,720th in the world for Stupidest Citizens, scoring 10 on the Average Edu-UNtellignce® Test Score.
