The Protectorate of Tyraina is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by Turbo McAwesomesauce with an iron fist, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 5.083 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Funky Town. The average income tax rate is 89%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Automobile Manufacturing.

The police have been swamped with requests to stay up past bedtime, the automotive industry soaks up huge government handouts, political activists are routinely executed, and TV shows must meet strict ethnicity quotas. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Tyraina's national animal is the pet rock, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Dioism, and its currency is the Twig.

Tyraina is ranked 1,760th in 10000 Islands and 91,754th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -23 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
