The Federation of Trachitoria is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by John Hawk with a fair hand, and notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 1.614 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The small, pro-business government devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Social Equality and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Serenity. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Gambling and Woodchip Exports.

Popular political cartoonists are thrown in jail for inciting dissent, airport security is provided by private companies, reporters often lose their jobs over fact-checking errors, and employers may fire workers without giving any reason. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Trachitoria's national animal is the silver dragon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the united credit.
