The Most Serene Republic of Toongoosia is a colossal, devout nation, notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. The hard-nosed, hard-working population of 7.164 billion Toongoosians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Richburgh. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 2%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Nudity is frowned upon, urban high-volume mailers now receive their mail via chauffeur-driven limousines, voting is compulsory, and more and more students are taking up a career in medicine. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Toongoosia's national animal is the Blue Eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies, and its currency is the karant.

Toongoosia is ranked 337th in Europe and 101,818th in the world for Largest Automobile Manufacturing Sector, scoring -5 on the Henry Ford Productivity Index.
