The Most Serene Republic of Toongoosia is a colossal, safe nation, notable for its anti-smoking policies. The hard-working population of 7.679 billion Toongoosians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Richburgh. The average income tax rate is 2%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

A large-scale revitalization of the education system is underway, there are no minimum wage laws, torture is illegal, and the upper class have been throwing riots after hunting was recently banned. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Toongoosia's national animal is the Blue Eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies, and its currency is the karant.

Toongoosia is ranked 321st in Europe and 97,161st in the world for Highest Drug Use, scoring 29 on the Pineapple Fondness Rating.
