The Most Serene Republic of Toongoosia is a colossal, devout nation, notable for its hatred of cheese. The hard-working population of 7.512 billion Toongoosians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Richburgh. The average income tax rate is 2%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

A large-scale revitalization of the education system is underway, there are no minimum wage laws, torture is illegal, and the upper class have been throwing riots after hunting was recently banned. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Toongoosia's national animal is the Blue Eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies, and its currency is the karant.

Toongoosia is ranked 238th in Europe and 90,206th in the world for Largest Arms Manufacturing Sector, scoring -2 on the Charon Conveyancy Index.
