The Strawberry Fields of Tokeiz is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by Electro-Hippie with a fair hand, and remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5.985 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of the Environment, Social Equality, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Eel Pie Island. The average income tax rate is 97%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Political parties are banned from advertising and receiving private donations, politicians are to be found scavenging bins at night to supplement their income, the tenet of free speech is held dear, and all recreational drugs are legal. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Tokeiz's national animal is the Red Squirrel, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Sikhism, and its currency is the Penny.

Tokeiz is ranked 52nd in England and 99,992nd in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -40 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
