OverviewPeopleGovernmentEconomyTrendAnalysis

The Urmel Island of Titiwu is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Seelefant with a fair hand, and notable for its museums and concert halls. The compassionate, intelligent population of 16.751 billion Titiwuans hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although the Environment and Social Equality are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 67%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Immigrant herding has become a national pastime, 'The Anti-Government Hour' is a popular programme on many of Titiwu's radio stations, people reciting Shakespeare have become a common sight, and Titiwu's Medieval Faire is renowned as one of the best in the region. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a serious problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Titiwu's national animal is the Urmel, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the sea shell.

Titiwu is ranked 10th in Haiku and 115,783rd in the world for Largest Manufacturing Sector, scoring -20 on the Gooback-Jerbs Productivity Index.
