The Free Land of Tirili is a huge, safe nation, renowned for its anti-smoking policies. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 454 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although the Environment and Social Welfare are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Lier. The average income tax rate is 100%. An almost nonexistent private sector is dominated by the Cheese Exports industry.

The government is seen to favor Catholics, teenagers across the country are celebrating the defeat of a national curfew bill, Tirili has one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world, and citizens are encouraged to report friends, family members or co-workers who seem depressed to the government for "counselling". Crime is totally unknown. Tirili's national animal is the dog, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the euro.
