The Borderlands of Tirantus is a massive, safe nation, ruled by The Lord Militant General Azreal with an iron fist, and notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 3.677 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Spire. The average income tax rate is 99%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Beef-Based Agriculture and Arms Manufacturing.

The number of students attending university has reached a record high, private business has started paving paradises and putting up parking lots, Tirantus is notorious for its citizens' infidelity, and citizens are encouraged to report friends, family members or co-workers who seem depressed to the government for "counselling". Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Tirantus's national animal is the Hedgehog, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Atheism, and its currency is the Credit.

Tirantus is ranked 21st in The North Pacific and 1,226th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 37 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
