The Kingdom of Tilling-on-Sea is a massive, devout nation, ruled by Her Majesty Queen Lucia with an iron fist, and notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 3.265 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Religion & Spirituality, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Mallards. The average income tax rate is 59%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing and Beef-Based Agriculture.

Children as young as twelve are conscripted into the armed forces, a crusade against barbaric religious practices has begun, citizens are regularly arrested in queues for 'loitering', and notable individuals are granted land and titles. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Tilling-on-Sea's national animal is the Linnet, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Roman Luciaphilism, and its currency is the Tillingite.

Tilling-on-Sea is ranked 1,052nd in The North Pacific and 24,015th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -10 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
