The Free Land of Tigults is a massive, safe nation, ruled by King Rick with an even hand, and remarkable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.016 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Grimes. The average income tax rate is 91%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing and Tourism.

The nation's infamous boot camp is more brutal than most battlefields, the government has declined to declare any particular religion as its 'official' one, Rupert Bear is considered to be the most risqué TV programme in Tigults, and Tigults's airwaves are dominated by corporate-backed commercial radio. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Tigults's national animal is the blue danube, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the platuj.

Tigults is ranked 12th in Hezar Islands and 92,022nd in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -23 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
