The Fiefdom of Thunderbay is a colossal, safe nation, notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-working population of 9.018 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Commerce and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 61%. A large private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

The number of students attending university has reached a record high, Thunderbay's first free elections in recent memory have been successfully concluded, prime commercial land is being swamped with archaeological teams, and phone taps are frequently carried out by the police. Crime is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Thunderbay's national animal is the ring-toed lemur, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the gwader.
