The Dictatorship of The United Soviet States is a massive, devout nation, ruled by Dale Martindale with an iron fist, and renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 1.163 billion are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Brighton. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 89%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Membership in the state-owned Church of The United Soviet States is mandatory and all other faith organisations are banned, the government pours millions of Reichs into rehabilitation programs annually, students and teachers are regularly stopped and searched for symbols of religious affiliation before class, and the government extracts trade concessions from poor nations in exchange for humanitarian aid. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. The United Soviet States's national animal is the Bear, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is The Ascended Church, and its currency is the Reich.
