The Lovely Land of The Truth and Light is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by Matty Sagittarius with a fair hand, and renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5.12 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Social Welfare, although Education and Religion & Spirituality are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of La Veritia. The average income tax rate is 66%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Matty Sagittarius has just been declared ruler of The Truth and Light in an international press conference, parents must choose their children's names from a government-mandated master list, New Age has been named as The Truth and Light's national religion, and houses and businesses are bulldozed to make way for ever-expanding cemeteries. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown. The Truth and Light's national animal is the Panda, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is New Age, and its currency is the Smile.
