Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.748 billion enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Moscow. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 79%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Woodchip Exports industries.

Cheese has become the new icon of political dissent, cheating spouses are required to undergo job training, employers may fire workers without giving any reason, and high food prices have reduced the national diet to staple foods and water. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Sovietyeto's national animal is the Brown Bear, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Ruble.

The Sovietyeto is ranked 6th in The Darklands and 6,732nd in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 9 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
