The United Socialist Republics of The Soviet Union is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Comrade Lenin with a fair hand, and renowned for its national health service. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.343 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Moscow. The average income tax rate is 94%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

An increasing percentage of the population's youth have homosexual parents, public footpaths are being slowly eroded by the burgeoning number of ramblers, politicians are to be found scavenging bins at night to supplement their income, and torture is illegal. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Soviet Union's national animal is the Golden Bicephalic Eagle, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Soviet Ruble.

The Soviet Union is ranked 132nd in USSR and 95,585th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -27 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
