The Republic of The Skeith Islands is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate population of 1.328 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Social Equality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Skeith Islands City. The average income tax rate is 80%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Anti-government web sites are springing up, the upper class have been throwing riots after hunting was recently banned, Leader has just been declared ruler of The Skeith Islands in an international press conference, and badminton was recently banned due to 'unacceptable violence' inherent to the game. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Skeith Islands's national animal is the Elk, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Sareth.

The Skeith Islands is ranked 1st in Arenlandia and 15,002nd in the world for Largest Public Sector, scoring 19 on the Bureaucratic Comprehensiveness Rating Scale Index.
