The Empire of The Palatine is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Prime Minister Archon with an even hand, and remarkable for its unlimited-speed roads. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 1.789 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Archon City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 33%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

The nation's industries are scrambling to switch to biodegradable plastics, small businesses are gobbled up almost daily by corporate giants, the nation's diplomatic missives are now delivered via sniper rifle, and politicians are losing their jobs in a plan to make the government 'leaner and fitter'. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Palatine's national animal is the Pegasus, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Noble.

The Palatine is ranked 906th in Europeia and 107,192nd in the world for Most Pacifist, scoring -170 on the Lennon-Springsteen Scale.
