The Floral Land of The Orchids is a colossal, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its irreverence towards religion. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5.605 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The enormous, liberal government is effectively ruled by the Department of the Environment, with areas such as Healthcare and Commerce receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Flower Pot. The average income tax rate is 44%, but much higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Cars are banned from built-up areas, survivors receive aid from only the most environmentally-friendly transport, heavy industry grinds to a halt as new equipment must be biked in, and the upper class have been throwing riots after hunting was recently banned. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. The Orchids's national animal is the orchid, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the orchid.

The Orchids is ranked 2,085th in 10000 Islands and 100,499th in the world for Largest Trout Fishing Sector, scoring -9 on the Nemo Depletion Efficiency Index.
