The Fascist States of The Independent Americas is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Ronald Reagan's Ghost with an iron fist, and renowned for its suspicion of poets. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.882 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Social Equality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Patria. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 12%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Gambling.

The Independent Americas's army is full of two-metre tall super-soldiers, the poor are quarantined in the inner cities to prevent criminals from entering the suburbs, Walrus is one of the most popular forenames in The Independent Americas, and euthanasia is illegal. Crime is a major problem. The Independent Americas's national animal is the Walrus, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Luxism, and its currency is the Shingle.
