The Free Land of The IDU is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 14.865 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The medium-sized government concentrates mainly on Law & Order, although Education and Social Welfare are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Democracity. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 20%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Retail, Woodchip Exports, and Uranium Mining industries.

The tenet of free speech is held dear, voting is voluntary, the police force is on a recruitment drive, and The IDU has designated Democracity as its capital city. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The IDU's national animal is the none, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the conargo.

The IDU is ranked 29th in International Democratic Union and 45,882nd in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -12 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
