The Grand Republic of The Federated States of Chezchosiberia is a massive, devout nation, ruled by Vladimir Castro with an iron fist, and notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 2 billion are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Religion & Spirituality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ishtar City. The average income tax rate is 92%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

The government is making attempts at curtailing the flood of spam emails with little progress, military spending is on the increase, birds and children's kites are regularly brought down by anti-aircraft fire, and nine out of ten citizens of The Federated States of Chezchosiberia answered 'nuclear safety inspector' when asked their occupation. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Federated States of Chezchosiberia's national animal is the Mountain Lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Catholicism, and its currency is the Chezch.
