The People's Unified Government of The BranRiech is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Premier Kovapak with an iron fist, and notable for its hatred of cheese. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 4.713 billion are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The medium-sized, corrupt government is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Defence and Public Transport are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Brangrad. The average income tax rate is 26%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing.

Political activists are routinely executed, citizens must have a license to operate a computer, the welfare administration's new sweeping authority has forced the poor and needy to shop from pre-approved grocery lists, and radio shows frequently feature people denouncing religion. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. The BranRiech's national animal is the zombie, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Atheism, and its currency is the Branriech dollar.

The BranRiech is ranked 11th in The Apartment Block and 40,398th in the world for Largest Mining Sector, scoring 2 on the Blue Sky Asbestos Index.
