The Protectorate of Tempelton is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Pittiplatsch with an even hand, and renowned for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 2.016 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Pietertown. The average income tax rate is 91%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Gambling industry.

Much of Tempelton's computer network is controlled by a rampant artificial intelligence, every product goes through extensive safety-testing by the government, the Supreme Court vehemently protects civil rights and the right to privacy, and manual labourers must be willing to have cybernetic limbs to get a job. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Tempelton's national animal is the Black Panther, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Temple.

Tempelton is ranked 291st in Capitalist Paradise and 97,004th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -29 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
