The Rogue Nation of Tautomere is a huge, socially progressive nation, renowned for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 998 million hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Defence and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Tautomere City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 46%. A healthy private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Tourism and Information Technology.

The government has begun breaking all large businesses into thousands of mom-and-pop general stores, citizens applying for their first jobs face fierce competition from the homeless, minority children spend hours bussing to schools miles away from home, and most citizens in Tautomere are abject pyrophobes after extremely graphic pamphlets were mailed nationwide by the government. Crime is totally unknown. Tautomere's national animal is the Shrew, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Pew.

Tautomere is ranked 4,202nd in the South Pacific and 84,284th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -19 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
