Overview • PeopleGovernmentEconomyTrendAnalysis

The Republic of Tasma is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Prime Minister Emily Acún with a fair hand, and renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 3.597 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Perth. The average income tax rate is 91%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

Racial and religious segregation has become rife as the various groups are loath to mingle, teenagers across the country are celebrating the defeat of a national curfew bill, almost all of Tasma's water is piped into the country from abroad for exorbitant prices, and the alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit. Crime is totally unknown. Tasma's national animal is the kangaroo, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Trank.

Tasma is ranked 4,079th in the Pacific and 100,061st in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -41 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
