The Borderlands of Tamarleo is a colossal, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Mahasoor with an iron fist, and remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 5.2 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Defence, with areas such as Social Equality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Tamarleo City. The average income tax rate is 40%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Gambling and Tourism.

The government's religious works are headed by a New Age guru, ethnic minorities are often refused admission to some of the nation's best schools, shops were recently ransacked as cigarettes returned to the shelves, and the people are famous throughout the region for their bleached-white teeth. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Tamarleo's national animal is the mongoose, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is a major religion, and its currency is the doubloon.

Tamarleo is ranked 157th in Taijitu and 85,742nd in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring -43 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
