The Consortium of Taledonia is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Consul Rearden with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 15.182 billion enjoy some of the most opulent lifestyles in the region, unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Taledon. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Nudity is frowned upon, commercial jingles have been ham-handedly forced into world renowned symphonies, a typical fast food menu item could serve a small army, and the nation's diplomatic missives are now delivered via sniper rifle. Crime is crippling. Taledonia's national animal is the wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the dollar.
