Overview • PeopleGovernmentEconomyTrendAnalysis

The United Republics of Sulaymaan is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Alastair Riothamus with an even hand, and remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 9.155 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The enormous, corrupt government is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Commerce are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Khotan. The average income tax rate is 26%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Information Technology.

Disaster victims are viewed with disdain, the government has declared its commitment to multilateralism, the breathalyser pledge is a traditional part of marriages in Sulaymaan, and people regularly disappear off the streets and all evidence of them is destroyed. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sulaymaan's national animal is the Sugar Glider, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Freedom of Religion, and its currency is the Sulaymaan soum.

Sulaymaan is ranked 1st in Nova and 171st in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 77 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
