The Republic of Studervania is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Nick Buoniconti with an even hand, and notable for its irreverence towards religion. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 1.287 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Dan Marino City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 22%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing, Information Technology, and Tourism industries.

The nation's massive battleships are often mistaken for islands, eight year-olds can be seen lighting up in public areas, the streets are increasingly clogged with poverty-stricken beggars, and a government program is underway to revitalize Studervania's beaches. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Studervania's national animal is the Rhino, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Schrutte Buck.

Studervania is ranked 20th in St Abbaddon and 75,134th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -16 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
