Its hard-nosed population of 1.403 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Götterdämmerung. The average income tax rate is 77%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Book Publishing industries.

Scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, the government has become increasingly militant, a major religion has been named as Steinweg's national religion, and the tenet of free speech is held dear. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Steinweg's national animal is the Appenzeller Sennenhund, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is a major religion, and its currency is the Reichsmark.

Steinweg is ranked 18th in Slavia and 23,308th in the world for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 35 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
