OverviewPeopleGovernmentEconomyTrendAnalysis

The Republic of SteamEngine is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Hans Dampf with an even hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls. The compassionate population of 19.986 billion SteamEngineans enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of James-Watt-City. The average income tax rate is 80%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Drunk drivers are sent to rehabilitation paid for by the government, all new "spies" are fifteen-year-old acne-ridden kids on computers, citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes, and private law firms are unheard of. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. SteamEngine's national animal is the firedrake, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the firegold.

SteamEngine is ranked 4th in Deutschland and 7,685th in the world for Safest, scoring 401 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
