The Lunar Alliance of Starlightia is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Lumanaré Maxima with a fair hand, and renowned for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 2.828 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, the Environment, and Social Equality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Starlight. The average income tax rate is 73%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Book Publishing and Gambling.

Starlightia successfully hosted the New Lunar Republic Olympics, postmen have been arrested in job lots for selling junk mail as home insulation, the government funds large training centres to turn Starry Winged Eagles into functioning members of society, and religious education is a new government priority. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Starlightia's national animal is the Starry Winged Eagle, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Astronomy, and its currency is the Stardust Pouch.

Starlightia is ranked 42nd in New Lunar Republic and 125,672nd in the world for Largest Mining Sector, scoring -7 on the Blue Sky Asbestos Index.
