The Councilors Empire of Sovnia is a huge, safe nation, ruled by Sovnos' Veremee with an even hand, and remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 991 million are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The large, pro-business government is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Education are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Trioehl. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 16%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Gambling.

Commuter vessels have trouble staying afloat due to increased passengers, immigrants flood the job queues as discrimination in the workplace makes a staggering comeback, the institution of marriage is held sacred and strictly enforced, and criminals are executed and their property seized. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sovnia's national animal is the Cockroach, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Sovnia Credit.

Sovnia is ranked 2nd in Peschici and 6,821st in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 9 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
