Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 6.086 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Equality, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Soutouboua. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 36%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Crime is on the rise as DNA sampling has been all but outlawed, punitive tariffs protect local industry, children are brainwashed at a young age to accept "Love and peace!" as a way of life, and the space program has been scrapped in order to focus on more terrestrial pursuits. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Soutouboua's national animal is the lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the xof.
