The Planetary Federation of Solont is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Lord Protector Katsuma Rayer with an iron fist, and renowned for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, hard-working, cynical population of 5.928 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Waterfront City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 26%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Red Cross demand for body bags are rising while sutures are decreasing, the nation's infamous boot camp is more brutal than most battlefields, the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, and elections have been outlawed. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Solont's national animal is the panzer dragon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the credit.

Solont is ranked 4th in Space Sector RPRA and 7,433rd in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring 19 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
